Dear Scout Leaders:

I know that you are busy, but is VERY IMPORTANT that you take the time to enter your unit's hours of community service into the Journey To Excellence (JTE) website.

What do you need to know to report your service hours?
- Take a look at the service project report form. Use this to help determine what to enter. Click here for the form.
- Go to https://servicehours.scouting.org/UI/Security/Login.aspx and log in so you can enter the service project details.

Each unit should have a designated person to enter those hours.

How many projects do you need to enter?
- Every community service project and/or charter organization service project completed during the year, except for Eagle projects which are entered by Council.
- Each unit has a minimum goal for the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of the JTE Unit Award as follows (ideally with an average of 3 or more hours per scout):

No. Program Req. # Bronze Silver Gold
1) Cub Scout Packs 7 2 projects 3 projects 4 projects
2) Boy Scout Troops 8 4 projects 5 projects 6 projects
3) Varsity Scout Teams 8 4 projects 5 projects 6 projects
4) Venturing Crews 5 2 projects 3 projects 4 projects
5) Sea Scout Ship 6 2 projects 3 projects 4 projects
6) Explorer Posts 10 3 hrs/Scout 4 hrs/Scout 6 hrs/Scout

One of these projects must benefit your charter organization.

If you need any help, please contact Donna Kaplan at ddkaplan_at_hotmail.com. I can't wait to see how many projects you have all done this year.
