Whitewater Kayaking

If you have Scouts and Venturers who enjoy whitewater rafting and want to move up to something more challenging, whitewater kayaking is the program for them. Even if they have no whitewater experience, the program is designed for beginners, so it's a good choice for anyone who wants to try it.

We have two programs, the summer camp program at Camp Rainey Mountain program and the weekend program. In the camp program, scouts sign up for the program full time the entire week their unit is at camp. This program typically includes two days of lake and land instruction and three river trips. Consult your Summer Camp Leader's Guide for more information.

The weekend program operates out of Scoutland, where units can camp out for the weekend. It includes an evening session, a Saturday session on the lake, and (if the learners make enough progress on the lake) a Sunday river trip. Weekend program dates are in the calendar for High Adventure found on this website.

All dates are subject to weather conditions, river levels, availability of instructors, and other unforeseeable factors that might prevent us from safely operating a program that's fun for everyone.
