Welcome to the No
rtheast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Shooting Sports Program. BSA and the National Rifle Association (NRA) have joined together to advance the knowledge, skills and attitude needed for safe firearms training programs. As with all Council High Adventure programs SAFETY is a top priority. The Shooting Sports Program has the responsibility to provide NRA Certified Range Safety Officers and NRA Certified Firearms instructors for all shooting sports activities and training classes that take place on council properties. The Boy Scouts of America has defined the requirements for the following programs: Cub Scouts may shoot BB guns and archery at council and district events only. Boy Scouts may shoot 22 rim-fire rifles, shotguns, and archery. Venturers and Explorers may shoot most classifications of firearms to include rifles, shotguns, pistols, and archery.
As with all BSA High Adventure programs, the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record Form is required to include parts A, B and C. (680-001). This is for all participants, both youth and adult. There are no exceptions.

Rifle, shotgun and pistol. One class per weekend and each firearm class is a different length, however all classes will take most of a weekend to complete.
These classes are designed for the rifle and shotgun merit badges. Each class can be completed in one day. This would be the time to send a Scout who wants to complete either merit badge.
This program will allow youth and adults to participate in rifle, shotgun and pistol competitions. The Winchester program will be used for awards, patches and rockers.

If you would like additional information on this program, please email the Council Shooting Sports Director. You may also contact the camping department at the council service center. 800-699-8806.
