Roundtable Summaries 2008-02-21 - Boy Scout The topic this month will be a presentation on Dealing with Challenging and/or Challenged Scouts (or Parents) in our units. Several issues will be discussed including disabilities, medical conditions, and drug abuse. 2008-01-11 - Boy Scout The topic this month will be a presentation on Life-Threatening Communicable Diseases. Well, perhaps that got your attention. I'm not trying to imply that any of us have this problem, but this issue as well as other medical issues within the unit and on unit trips must be considered to comply with safe scouting guidelines. 2007-12-13 - Boy Scout At this meeting, recharter packages will be collected and, for some, recognition awards will be given. A topic that will also be discussed is the national BSA policy on Trademarks and Licensing. This policy effects every unit that wants to use any official BSA trademark on unit shirts, caps, etc. In the past, many units have used local suppliers for these items, but now the suppliers must be licensed or the activity will be considered illegal. 2007-11-08 - Boy Scout This month we will be holding the Recharter Workshop. All units must recharter annually and this program is a 'how-to' step-by-step presentation. If you have any questions about how recharters must be completed, this is the program to attend. Also Recharter packets will be available that night. 2007-10-11 - Cub Scout The theme for the roundtable is 'Indian Nations.' We will be doing some crafts and games related to that theme and will try to fit in some crafts and ideas for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meetings as well. 2007-10-11 - Boy Scout The topic this month will be a presentation on Unit Risk Management Issues. We will be discussing several issues including guidelines for safe scouting activities, youth protection, emergency plans, transportation policies, tour permits, and unit insurance policies. These issues include critical information that all leaders and unit commissioners should know well. Knowledge of this information can prevent many potential problems that impact the unit and leaders. For example, even a small violation of BSA policy may jeopardize liability protection, exposing leaders to direct legal consequences. 2007-09-13 - Cub Scout
This month's roundtable theme is Down on The Farm! Come and get ideas for skits, games, songs and crafts. You will also have an opportunity to meet and talk with other leaders.
2007-09-13 - Boy Scout Initially, there will be a presentation by Bob Harwell concerning a Council training course, Tali Atsila, that will be offered in November. The training is geared primarly for SM, ASM and those that might camp with the troop. The training will be on pioneering, cooking and orienteering. Please attend to get more information about this course. The main topic this month will be a presentation on Merit Badge Counselor Approval. Beginning September 1, 2007, any adult leader wanting to be a merit badge counselor must be registered and approved by the Council. We will discuss the realities and myths about this issue, as well as, reguirements for submission of merit badge advancement. These are national guidelines that the Council will now be enforcing. 2007-08-09 - Cub Scout *All Aboard The Cub Scout Express!* That's the theme of this month's roundtable. Come join us for pack and den meeting ideas on welcoming back your scouts from last year and introducing those boys that are new to scouting! You'll get craft, game, and skit ideas. You'll also have an opportunity to meet and share information with other leaders, as well as making sure you are up to date with activities and training opprtunities that are coming up in the district. 2007-08-09 - Boy Scout The topic this month will be a presentation on Annual Troop Program Planning given by Dr. Paul Matthews.
